SUMMARY: A 31-mile loop trip in the Domeland Wliderness of the southern Sierra Nevadas. Allow 3 to 5 days for the trip.
DESCRIPTION: Depart form Big Meadow logging road, which is about 1½ hours drive north form Kernville, heading east ½ mile over a saddle to enter Domeland Wilderness. Head southeast for a mile over another saddle to leave the wilderness area. Continue to Taylor creek following it through Taylor Meadow to Trail Junction. Take the northerly route toward Church Dome and reenter the Domeland Wilderness at Manter Meadow. This is one of the most scenic meadows in the southern Sierra and it is suggested as a first night camp on Manter creek. From here go east down Manter Creek over the pass and into Rockhouse Basin. Camp along the South fork of the Kern River. Fishing and swimming is available in the many beaver ponds. Make a short day up along the Kern River to Tibbets Creek and camp at Tibbets Meadow. The rock formations are very intriguing within this narrow valley. From here follow the long gradual climb with the only water between Tibbets and Manter Meadows in the spring at Bart's Dome. Continue to the west side of Manter Meadows and camp west of the fence. The trail will continue south along the west side of Manter Meadow then westerly at the south end of the meadow up along the creek and over the saddle to Big Meadow Loop Road. MAPS NEEDED:
