Palisade Glacier Trail

 


Trail head Location:
On Hwy. 395 at Big Pine, turn west toward the Sierras at Crocker Ave. (At the flashing light). Drive for 8 miles to the trail head parking area.

Dates open:
Usually from late June through October, depending on the snowpack.

Type of camp:
Backpack 6 miles on a moderate to very strenuous trail. Highest elevation reached is 12,200 feet.

Permits:
Forest service wilderness permit. No campfires.

Comments:
Purify water, watch for bears and pack out all trash.
